There are a number of key ingredients to make delegation successful, and in this one-day workshop, we explore how to assess each individual in your team for effective delegation.
As part of the pre-work for this programme, it is helpful to consider the individuals in your team and the tasks that you would seek to delegate. If you do not already have a skills matrix, it can be helpful to sketch out a basic map of tasks and individual knowledge (1-4 where 4 is high) and experience.
For example, I may have good knowledge of a complicated process (4) but my experience of doing the process may be low so far (1). Therefore, to delegate to me would be risky. Imagine if I was a medical student and the process was open-heart surgery!
Other important learning outcomes for this workshop are as follows:
- To know when total delegation is appropriate and when more supported direction is required.
- To be able to communicate effectively for delegation and know how to get the amount of follow-up correct.
- To recognise when instructions may be open to interpretation and assumptions and how to minimise these.
- To be able to spot opportunities to use delegation for personal development.
This one-day workshop is suitable for any managers and leaders looking to perfect their delegation skills.
We have never had such positive feedback. I will have no hesitation in recommending Real Results to my colleagues and contacts in the future.
