Things don’t always go to plan. Humans make mistakes. We can do and say the wrong thing, or at least it’s interpreted that way. Things happen that are outside of our control and still we fret and worry because we fear their impact. But why do some people appear to cope better with setbacks and change than others?

Course Outline

During changing, challenging times a whole host of pressure, emotion and stress can occur, leaving us feeling exhausted and at times even a little bit irrational.

In this course you will learn practical stress busting solutions that you can apply back at work straightaway, you may also find the thinking and techniques helpful in all areas of your life!

Learning Outcomes
  • Recognise your automatic reactions to negative situations (or change) and why this occurs.
  • Be able to work through emotional reactions to get to rational responses.
  • How to box off failure and recover from setbacks and challenges using a 7 point plan.
  • How to accept feedback with good grace and use it positively or let go.
  • Recognise why life is 20% what happens to you and 80%. how you deal with it. Have strategies for keeping things in perspective to avoid pressing ‘self-destruct’.
  • How to persist in the face of negativity and to use Solution Focused Thinking techniques to demonstrate professional tenacity.
  • How to protect your confidence and selfesteem with positive language patterns and avoid generalized and distorted thinking.
Who should attend?

This course is useful for any individual that faces change, setbacks or challenges. If dealing with negativity is part of your role then this course is for you. It is part of our leadership skills series but can also be useful for in-house groups of all levels seeking to boost their resilience and tenacity.
